Religious Freedoms

Everyone should have the option to practice their preferred religion or refrain from practicing any religion without discrimination. Moreover, it is important to make sure that people do not feel that they are having any religion forced onto them. This means that people should not be able to discriminate against others based on their beliefs (such as creating anti-LGBTQ rules). Everyone should feel safe to practice their religion without being harassed. Some people in the United States feel unsafe wearing traditional headscarves because of harassment and sometimes violence. In 1971, the case of Lemon v. Kurtzman created a few guidelines to ensure that a policy is constitutional: it must have a non-religious purpose; not end up promoting or favoring any set of religious beliefs;  not overly involve the government with religion.
